Negotiate stepping stones across the famous Snowy River and climb a paved walkway to the ancient Blue Lake cirque, a natural crater formed by an inexorable combination of gravity and ice. Then it’s upwards to Carruther’s Peak for lunch and a rest, whilst enjoying the breathtaking views of the Sentinel and Main Range. The walk continues along the spine of the Great Divide past beautiful Lake Albina with its dramatic vista over the western escarpment. Return to a fully catered campsite in the heart of Australia's true alpine terrain to relax, dine and watch a spectacular Snowy Mountain’s sunset.
Wake early, have a quick cuppa and grab a snack as there’s summiting to be done! From camp stroll to Rawson’s Pass (good loo’s here) before winding our way up to the summit of Australia, Mount Kosciuszko (depending on the time of year and weather, perhaps in time for sunrise). Following the summit, head back down to camp for a hearty breakfast then it’s off across the headwaters of the Snowy River. Experience the peculiarity of the granite tors and stunning snow gums as you descend through the alpine forest to Dead Horse Gap and a well earned lunch before the leisurely trip back to Lake Crackenback Resort.
