RESORT UPDATES

DRIVING IN ALPINE CONDITIONS
On rare occasions in winter, when it snows below the snowline you may require chains for your vehicle. Because the Resort lies outside the Kosciuszko National Park, it is not a legal requirement to carry chains to get to the Resort (unless directed by Live Traffic / Police). If you are planning to travel within the National Park to Perisher, it is law to carry chains (4WD’s exempt generally – check road conditions) during the winter season and a Kosciuszko National Park Pass will be required. Travelling to Thredbo it is recommended by National Parks to carry chains if bad weather. Fees can be paid at the park entry stations on the way to Thredbo or Perisher or at the National Parks Visitor Centre in Jindabyne.
Fees are $17 per vehicle per day in Spring/Summer/Autumn and $29 per vehicle per day for Winter.

NATIONAL PARKS INFORMATION

If you drive a diesel vehicle to the Snowy Mountains in the winter months, keep in mind diesel can freeze. Filling your tank with alpine mix diesel from a service station close to the snowfields (Cooma/Jindabyne), or adding an alpine diesel additive will stop your fuel from freezing. Standard diesel turns to a gel at around minus six degrees celsius. Dual fuel vehicles (LPG/petrol) should switch to petrol before entering alpine areas.
